The Annual Castlepoint Fishing Competition has been held for nearly 30 years. It’s always a highlight on the Castlepoint calendar, and great for all ages. Great prizes up for grabs too!

Put on by the Wairarapa Sports Fishing Club, the Superfish 500 is another awesome competition here at Castlepoint. With $500 first prize for each species, why not give it a go!

One for the ladies! The Battle of the Babes is our annual women’s fishing competition. Whether you’re a seasoned angler, or have all the gear with no idea, this event is for you. There are also social nights with spot prizes galore. Get the girls together and make a weekend of it!

Horse-racing at Castlepoint dates back to the first days of European settlement in the district. The Castlepoint Racing Club has been counting annual races at the beach from a meeting was held on Boxing Day of 1872, making the 2021 meeting the 150th. This event is held annually and is spectacular to watch.

The Matariki Bonfire has fast become a favourite annual event at Castlepoint. Come on down first thing in the morning for a beach bonfire, live entertainment, and tasty kai. It’s a great way to celebrate the rising of Matariki together as a community.

The Old Woolshed hosts the Castlepoint Art & Craft Fair, with stalls from all sorts of talented local artists, crafters, gardeners, and more. You’ll find beautiful handmade art, unique gifts, and a warm community vibe. Entry is free, so it’s the perfect excuse for a day trip to the coast, or even a weekend away.
