Wai Ngaio Retreat

The Wai Ngaio Retreat, with its ever changing Pacific Ocean views, is a large lodge on the East Coast of the Wairarapa. Set back into the hill, it is located roughly 45 minutes from the beach resort of Castlepoint, as well as the nearest town, Masterton.

The retreat is a former hunting and fishing lodge that has been refurbished to provide excellent accommodation for up to 20 people. Private and peaceful, this is the perfect place for large families or friend groups to get together for some fun on the Wairarapa Coast! You’ll enjoy spectacular views, and have the beach almost to yourselves. The beach is approximately 5km away by gravel road, only a few minutes drive. Enjoy walks along the beach, dipping your toes in the sea, rock pools or lagoons. You can fish from the beach, watch out for seals, and even pick paua off the rocks at low tide! The ideal spot for this is roughly 3km down the beach – bring a quad bike for easier access.

The retreat has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large open plan living/dining area with separate kitchen. It is furnished to a high standard, and includes all the kitchen equipment you will need, including an oven, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. All beds and bunks are king single in size and have a fitted bottom sheet, pillow and pillow case. You must BYO sleeping bag or duvet and towels. There are good disabled facilities with ramp access and a disabled bathroom. Not forgetting the huge flat screen TV with Freeview and a DVD player for your entertainment.
