Reservations & Payments

How do I make a reservation?

Reservations can be made online, via email, or over the phone.

Reservations are confirmed only on the receipt of full credit card details or one night’s deposit.

We strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

When are your busiest times of the year?

Our High Peak times are by far our busiest. These include:

  • 20th December – 10th February
  • All Public Holiday weekends
  • Castlepoint Beach Races weekend



Our Peak time is December – March (excluding the High Peak dates outlined above). This time of year gives you those kiwi summer vibes, ideal for camping, swimming, fishing, walking, and long days at the beach.

Our Off Peak time is April – November (excluding the High Peak dates outlined above). With fewer crowds, this time of year is peaceful and scenic, ideal for relaxing coastal escapes, fishing trips, and photographers.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa & MasterCard credit cards, or direct payments. Please forward by email or phone with your details so we can process a deposit and make the booking for you.

Is there a surcharge for credit cards?

A 2% Credit card surcharge applies to all payments made by credit card at the Castlepoint Holiday Park and Motels.

Cancellations & Refunds

How do I amend or cancel my booking?

To change or cancel your booking, please email us holiday@castlepoint.co.nz as early as possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

Standard Cancellation Policy

The below policies apply for stays outside of High Peak times (20 Dec – 10 Feb, Castlepoint Beach Races weekend, and public holidays).

  • A $25.00 administration fee will be applied to all cancellations. This will be deducted from the deposit when a refund is made or charged against the card confirming the reservation (A 2% credit card surcharge applies to all payments made by credit card).
  • Cancellations made within 10 days of arrival will result in a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the booking amount, this will be charged against the card used to confirm the reservation.
  • A no-show will be charged the cost of the full booking. No refunds due to weather. Payment in full upon arrival.  All damage or loss to our property will be charged to the registered guest.


High Peak Time Cancellation Policy

High Peak times include 20 December – 10 February, the weekend of Castlepoint Beach Races, and Public Holidays (Easter, ANZAC, Kings Birthday, Matariki, and Labour weekends).

  • A non refundable deposit equal to the of the cost of one nights accommodation is required at the time of booking.
  • Cancellations made within 60 days of arrival will result in a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the booking amount.
  • Cancellation fees will be charged against the card used to confirm the reservation (2% credit card surcharge applies to all payments made by credit card).
  • A no-show will be charged the cost of the full booking.
  • No refunds due to weather.
  • Remainder of payment in full is required upon arrival.

Pets

Do you allow dogs?

Yes! Dogs are welcome when camping during our Off Peak season, which is from 1st April – 1st December, excluding Easter & Labour weekends.

No pets are allowed during our Peak Season.

What are your policies for staying with dogs?

All dog owners must adhere to the following conditions. Failure to comply with these will result in your dog no longer being welcome at the Castlepoint Holiday Park and Motels. You may be asked to leave without a refund.

  1. Maximum 2 dogs per site.
  2. No dogs or pets are allowed in or around the Castlepoint Holiday Park and Motels accommodation units or communal areas.
  3. Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times.  It is the responsibility of the owner to collect & dispose of dog poo.
  4. Management has to right to refuse entry to any dog that they deem to be dangerous or a nuisance to other campers.

Children

Is Castlepoint Holiday Park family-friendly?

Absolutely. We’ve been a favourite holiday spot for generations of kiwi families. Kids love the freedom, and parents love the relaxed pace. Here you’ll find:

  • Easy access to walks and fishing spots
  • A children’s playground
What ages qualify for child booking rates?

Guests qualify as a child if they are between the ages of 2-13 inclusive.

What ages require adult supervision?

To stay at Castlepoint Holiday Park & Motels without adult supervision, guests must be 18 years or older. Guests under the age of 18 must stay with a parent or legal guardian.

Parents/guardians are responsible for the action of their children. Younger children must be supervised by an adult at all times in the communal facilities.

Our Park

Where are you located?

Castlepoint Holiday Park is located on the beautiful Wairarapa Coast. We are within driving distance of the following locations, making us a popular coastal getaway for locals and visitors alike.

  • 1 hour from Masterton
  • 2 hours from Palmerston North
  • 2.5 hours from Wellington
  • 3 hours from Whanganui
  • 3.5 hours from Hawke’s Bay
What types of accommodation do you offer?

We offer accommodation and camping sites to suit all travellers and budgets, including:

  • Beachfront powered sites
  • Standard powered sites
  • Non-powered tent sites
  • Kitchen cabins
  • Standard cabins
  • Self-contained motel units
  • Group accommodation
What facilities do you have?

Our facilities are designed to make your stay easy and comfortable and include:

  • Laundry facilities (open 24/7)
  • WiFi
  • Boat and fish-cleaning area
  • Playground
  • Dump station

Is linen provided in all units?

Linen and towels are provided in Seaview House, Motels 3 & 4, and the Park Motels. For all other units, please bring your own linen, bedding and towels. Bedding can be hired from reception for $15 per bed.

How big are your sites?

All powered sites are approx 8m x 8m. Tent sites are smaller. Please advise us if you are bringing a vehicle or tent larger than 8 meters.

Am I allowed visitors?

Yes.  Visitors are by courtesy of management at all times but are your responsibility and must depart by 10pm. Visitors are required to call at reception during office hours and sign in. All visitors vehicles are to be left in the visitors car park across from the main gates.

Local Area

Where can I buy groceries?

The Castlepoint Store only stocks a few grocery items like bread, milk, cereal, and snacks etc. The closest supermarkets to Castlepoint are located approximately 1 hour from the park in Masterton, so it is recommended to bring food with you.

Alternatively, Woolworths delivers to Castlepoint a few times a week, which you can order online. Just set the Delivery Address as ‘Castlepoint, Wairarapa Coast’. If you have any questions on this, chat to the reception team.

The next closest store/dairy is Riversdale Beach Store, approximately 45 minutes from the park.

Where can I buy meals?

Takeaways are available from The Castlepoint Store, or get a classic pub meal at The Whakataki or Tinui Bar & Cafe.

There are also occasional food trucks at Castlepoint, but these are seasonal.

The next closest restaurants & cafes are located in Masterton, or Homewood Storeroom further down the coast.

Are there any fishing charters at Castlepoint?

Yes! Castlepoint Charters & Tours offer Half Day or Full Day Fishing Charters, as well as Tiki Tours exploring Castlepoint’s landmarks. To book a charter or tour, or to find out more information, call 027 581 5709
